Phuket police arrest suspect in Kathu knife attack

PHUKET: A man has been arrested and charged for attempted murder following a knife attack on Wednesday night in the Ket Ho Community of Kathu.

The arrest was announced today (January 30) by Toong Thong Police.

On January 27, 4.45pm Mr Prasop Ketkaeo was admitted to Vachira Phuket Hospital where he was treated for four stab wounds – on his torso, collarbone, elbow and face..

The patient named the man who stabbed him as Mr Songyot Saekoi, for which an arrest warrant was issued by a Phuket court this morning (January 30) and served promptly.

Pr Prasop told police that at the time of the incident, he was walking on the street in front of his house, holding his niece [or nephew], when he alleged that Mr Songyot came to attack him by surprise, before fleeing the scene.

Mr Songyot faces attempted murder charges. Police have not released any statement from the suspect and provided any other details about the attack.
