Phuket man busted at Thalang checkpoint with 40 meth pills

PHUKET: A 34-year-old Phuket man has been arrested and charged with possession of a schedule 1 drug (methamphetamine) after he was stopped and searched at a checkpoint in Thalang’s Sisunthon sub-district.

Led by Police Lieutenant Colonel Amnuay Kraiwutanun, six officers from the Thalang Police Station set up the checkpoint along the route between Khao Lan and Bang Jo locales.

At about 9.30pm they stopped a suspicious looking man on a motorbike and a subsequent body search uncovered the drugs, 40 red Ya Ba (meth) pills. The suspect, named as Kachent Punthip of Thepkrasattri, was brought into custody.
