Somsak Leamlom, 30, and Pornchai Chaicharn, 31, were arrested with a total of total of 53.47 grams of crystal meth (ya ice), 57 methamphetamine pills (ya bah), two unregistered guns and 28 rounds of ammunition.

Provincial police announced the arrest Somsak Leamlom, 30, and Pornchai Chaicharn, 31, at a press conference held yesterday (Sept 17).

The two were arrested with a total of 53.47 grams of crystal meth (ya ice), 57 methamphetamine pills (ya bah), two unregistered guns and 28 rounds of ammunition at a rented room in Soi Kraisart in Rassada.

Pol Lt Ritthichai Chumchoy revealed that the arrests came after police previously arrested 31-year-old woman, Saowanee Kierhlier, on drug charges at 11am on Wednesday. Saowanee told police that she brought her drugs from a man named Somsak. She then took officers to the room where he stayed.

Police waited for Somsak to come out of his room, approached him and then went to search inside the room where they found 50.24g of ya ice, 70 ya bah bills, an unregistered 9mm Smith and Wesson pistol, nine rounds of 9mm bullets and 13 rounds of .32 bullets.

Police also seized drug taking paraphernalia and digital scales.

Somsak told police that half of the drugs belonged to a dealer named Pornchai who dropped them off at his room on September 13. He would pick up small amounts of the drugs every evening to sell to locals.

“At 8:30pm on Wednesday night, Pornchai showed up at Somsak’s door, when he spotted officers he attempted to flee. Officers managed to apprehend him and searched him. During the search they found 3.23g of ya ice and five ya bah pills under his cap. He also had a CZ 75 pistol and 6 rounds of 9mm bullets in his car,” said Pol Lt Ritthichai.

Pornchai told police that on September 11 he paid B6,000 for 3 grams of ya ice from a dealer named Boy and picked it up at Sarasin Bridge,. He also told them that he had bought the the gun from a man named Ekk in Phang Nga, who Boy had contacted for him, for B30,000.

Both Somsak and Pornchai are now being held at Provincial Police Station where they have been charged with illegal possession of Category 1 drugs with intent to sell and illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
